How to Shave

Shaving is the process of utilizing a razor to remove unwanted hair from the skin. Both men and women shave their face as well as their body. Mostly men shave their face, however, for usually, men grow mustaches and beards, and women do not. Other areas of the body are shaved by women and men alike, including the arms, the legs, the abdominal area, the chest, the back, the underarms, etc. Shaving goes back all the way to the Stone Age, when Neanderthals, most particularly the male gender, would pluck their bodily hair using seashells. The usage of permanent shaving razors were finally created and utilized in about 3000 B.C. Around 500 B.C., women began to shave utilizing razors, and even began to create their own creams using medical substances. During the 17th and 18th centuries, both aristocratic men and women would shave their eyebrows, mustaches, and heads in order to wear big, elegant wigs and false eyebrows and mustaches. By the 20th century, shaving the face became mostly a procedure in which men followed, even though some women did carry on this tradition as well. Before one begins shaving, he must first make sure that the razor is clean and there is no residue on it. First, you can begin by applying water to your face, preferably warm water. Warm water allows your skin’s pores to open up, and it also softens your skin. When your pores open up, it is more likeable that you can get a close shave. Next, apply either shaving cream or soap to your face. There are many ways in which you can go about doing this. You can either utilize a shaving brush and create a lather with soap, or simply just squirt cream into your hand, lather up and apply it to your face. When you apply it to your face, you must make sure to apply the sides, the chin, and the sides of the nose as well. Next, take the razor and press it to the area you want to shave. Always remember to shave towards the direction that your hair is growing, not against. Shaving against the direction of the hair growth can damage and irritate your skin, and it would not remove the hair either. Using short, gentle strokes, shave your face while stretching your skin a little in order to make it easier for you to shave. Your strokes shouldn’t be too forced or hard, nor too soft and gentle. You must find the right touch, so that you will be removing the unwanted hair, not your skin. Afterwards, when you are done shaving your entire face, you can rinse your face with cold water. This will close up your pores and keep your skin clean and fresh all day. Next, you can apply aftershave moisturizer or shaving oil to keep your skin moisturized and healthy. Since shaving strips the skin of all its essential and natural oils, applying a little bit of moisturizer would replenish it and keep it healthy.
