In order for you to shave your head, you must first trim down your hair to a very short length. The hair must be trimmed to merely stubble, for this makes it much easier to shave. When your hair is very long, it is very difficult to shave your head, for razors cannot cut through all that hair. Next, wet your head with warm water, preferably in the shower. Taking a warm shower, and holding your head under the water for several minutes will ensure that the hair on your head has become softer and less coarse, allowing it to undergo a good, close shave. Next, apply a good quality shaving product such as shaving gel or a lubricant all over your head. Make sure to rub it into your hands first, and lather up before applying it to your head. The better the quality of the shaving product, the better and closer your shave will be. Next, begin shaving. Make sure to go with the grain, so in order to prevent irritation, shaving bumps, and cuts on the skin. Shave with the direction of the hair growth, starting in areas that have lighter, and less coarse hair. This will allow the areas of your head with coarser hair to soak in the shaving product long enough to become softer and more moistened. Shave all over your head, and make sure not to repeat the same stroke over the same area more than once. Doing this may cause more irritation to the skin, so if you feel as though you must go over the same area twice, be careful and gentle. When you’re done shaving your head entirely, and you feel as though you have removed all the unwanted hair, rinse off your head with cold water. You do not need to apply after shave lotion or moisturizer, unless you want to. You can simply just rinse your head off, and pat it dry with a towel. However, if you feel as though you want to protect your head and keep it soft, you can apply a good aftershave lotion or moisturizer all over your head. Make sure to use a type of lotion that will soothe your skin, not irritate it, so do not use products that contain too many chemicals, or alcohol.
