Shaving correctly is a very crucial skill an individual must acquire. There are many ways of shaving, and of course, one can shave in an incorrect way, leaving damage to the skin. Some tips on shaving are:
1. Try to avoid shaving early in the morning, because your skin hasn’t awakened or freshened up yet.
2. Exfoliating before you shave is also a good idea, because this removes dead skin cells and opens up your pores.
3. Wet your skin with warm water before you shave, because this opens up your pores.
4. Do not just merely apply the shaving cream to your face; massage it into your skin as well. Make sure to cover your entire face with enough shaving cream, but do not apply too much of it either.
5. Do not use dull blades, for they can cause cuts and irritation. A sharp blade will help prevent cuts, redness, and dragging of the skin.
6. Use short, slow strokes when shaving, and rinse your razor blade with hot water to remove the residue after every couple of strokes.
7. Shave with the grain, not against the grain, or in other words, shave in the direction of the hair growth.
8. After your shave, applying an oil-free moisturizer is a good idea, for it keeps your skin smooth and protected.
9. Do not use shaving products that include menthol, for it can irritate your skin.
10. Avoid shaving products such as shaving creams that include Sodium Laurel Sulfate, for they can irritate your skin as well.
